My name is Jacqui Chalmers and I have been nominated as a Councillor in the upcoming Onkaparinga Council Elections for the ward of Knox
From 14th October 2022 everyone eligible to vote in these elections will receive a Postal Ballot in the mail.
It will then be necessary for you to fill in your Ballot and post it off so it’s received no later than 10th November. Please allow at least 3 days for postage.
I have lived in the Onkaparinga area as a rate payer for 26 years.
I have two grown children and grandchildren that I care about. I want to ensure this council will remain a good place for them to live in.
I have been involved with the homeless and drug rehabilitation with suicide prevention education and training and I have volunteered in numerous churches and op-shops over the years.
We are in a great place to live and I have a real appreciation of its outdoor areas and the environment and will work to maintain these areas for everyone’s enjoyment.
Another concern is for responsible fiscal management of this council so reducing rates for the sake of the wider community is critical. Rates need to be kept as low as possible.
There are so many ways we can help our Community such as opening public markets for buying, selling and trading so we do not have to rely so much on the big shopping chains.
I have teamed up with 11 other candidates in this election who believe like I do. We are all ordinary rate payers who love their community and if we are all elected we will have every opportunity to see these changes happen.
